The seventh district is the hot spot for the French aristocracy, who built themselves beautiful golden stone mansions in the late 17th and early 18th century. Next to the hotel, you will see the Musee d' Orsay, which is a former railroad station (built for the Great Exhibition of 1900) transformed into a beautiful museum of 19th century art, going from the late Romantic, Realist schools and salon painters of the 1840s to the art nouveau and Nabis painters at the beginning of the 20th century. A delightful museum occupies the house and gardens where the sculptor Rodin, once lived.
